Southern Gardens Project - March 2006
One thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve.
Albert Schweitzer
Each day presents a new opportunity for me to share the scope and vision of our society's project of "Restoring Roses to Southern Gardens" with individuals in our community. Momentum for our project continues to build as the imagination of the public is captured by the life-impacting aspects of this endeavor. We have several immediate challenges that must be met in order to facilitate our goal:
#1 Communnity awareness and involvement are essential to our success in this project. This is where your dedicated assistance will be necessary. Each member of this society has their own circle of influence; friends, family, business and social contacts. We touch more lives than we think in our daily encounters, and each encounter is an opportunity to inform and encourage others to become involved in this beautiful expression of humanitarian relief. Here are some of those ways you can help:
- Hand them a flier about our project..and share from your heart.
- Check with any organization that you are a member of and ask if we may place an article in their newsletter.
- Ask your church, Synagogue, business or service club for permission to have a representative from the Riverside Rose Society present our project to their audience, either in person or in a bulletin insert. If they agree to have someone come to their meeting, please contact me immediately by e-mailing me at davidandleestevens@yahoo.com with all the pertinent contact information.
#2 Mailings and e-mail contact with California Rose Societies: We need five or six people with good communication ability and moderate computer skills to be the contact liaisons between our society and the 58 other rose societies within the state. This job will consist of the following:
- Establish communication with your designated list of rose societies by introducing yourself and briefly outlining our project. Inform them we will be mailing an informational packet that will fully explain our goal and ways they may participate in this amazing adventure.
- Assemble and mail the packets, include a personal note (all materials will be provided).
- Follow up with a phone call or e-mail.
- Keep a record of your correspondence and their responses (save to your computer)
- Ask for space in their newsletter, for updates on the progress of this project
It's getting exciting! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, make new rose-loving friends and work together to bring a blessing to a wounded part of our nation. Thank you for your enthusiastic support. According to Dr. Schweitzer's definition of happy people.RRS has many reasons to smile!!
