Emails of "Thanks"

Hello David and Lee,

You have no idea how happy I was when I received my rose bush. My yard has always been beautiful but Katrina took all of that away from us. The only way we can get back to normal is to do normal things, however we don’t have time to do anything but put our houses back together. Thanks to you good people you have given us something we can enjoy. Thank you ever so much for your time and generosity that you have given the people who so badly needed you gifts. I am going to try to send you some before and after pics of my yard. Remember our summer yards are not as pretty as our spring yards.

Cindy

Dear Lee;

Sunday I was working with a group of 30 volunteers from Lakeview Christian Center. I overheard two of them talking about a fellow church member who has had significant Katrina losses, is suffering PTSD (as am I and everyone else around here) and who has resisted help getting her home rehabilitated. One of the members took one of your roses to her, and it was the first thing that got through to her. She cried tears of joy! These roses mean so much. They are alive, they are perennial, persistent, and consistent. They link us to the past, to the French settlers who brought them to New Orleans 300 years ago...and to the future, as we resettled this land. They show us that we are not forgotten. They are tangible. They truly are representative of God's love. She felt it. It was the first breakthrough any of her friends had seen!
